Volunteering

There are several reasons to volunteer:

 - the desire to give something back to the community
 - develop new skills
 - meet new people
 - be a role model
 - gain new experiences
 - pride and accomplishment
-- HAVE LOTS OF FUN

My name is Dave and I am the current coach for our under 9s A team.  I started coaching around 3 years ago having had no prior experience other than playing for the Masters team and playing in my younger days. When my son said that he wanted to play I was thrilled but there was no coach at that time for his age group so, rather than have him miss out, I offered to step up. I can quite honestly say that I have never looked back. 3 years have passed but I am still coaching the same kids, plus a few new additions, and I no longer see them as just a team. They are my football family.  I have a good rapport going with the kids and a good relationship with the parents.

18 months ago I decided to be even more involved so I joined the committee with a vision to move the club forward. I sincerely believe that this is a great club and we can achieve so much. I have now been elected Vice President which I relish but I still love coaching. It takes a lot of time and effort but I don't regret any part of it.  I get such a sense of achievement and pride in seeing how far "my kids" have come and how much the club has changed. It continues to change from season to season and I am excited for the future. UP THE PK!

My advice to anyone that is interested in coaching or volunteering is to just give it a go and make a difference. I promise you won't regret it.

Coaching

Coaching a sports team is very demanding and time consuming.  You will however find that the Pro's far outweigh the cons.
 - spend quality time with children (including your own if they join your team)
 - expand your social network
 - gain experience
 - gain new skills
 - get a work out
 - pride and achievement
 - HAVE LOTS OF FUN

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or a coach why dont you come on down and have a chat to somebody who is already doing it; talk to us about our new terms and conditions for coaching. All coaches will receive training and as much support as you need.
